Teddy Bridgewater Suffers Torn ACL During Practice

The Minnesota Vikings are going into the season with potentially, some bad news. Star quarterback Teddy Bridgewater went down with a noncontact injury in practice earlier today, subsequently ending training early. Bridgewater was immediately sent to the hospital and currently undergoing an MRI. Coach Mike Zimmer says it’s a “serious knee injury” even before he was scanned. The team doesn’t know the extent of it as of yet.

It’s obvious the Vikings are fearing the worst and this puts a stress the quarterback core they have in Minnesota, with Shaun Hill being Teddy’s backup.

The injury happened when Bridgewater dropped back to pass during drills, planted his foot and went down. Teddy appeared to be holding his leg immediately after hitting the ground. His teammates seemed to be shook by the injury and most of them dropped on one knee and prayed.

“Today is a disappointing day. … The No. 1 thing is Teddy is such a great kid. Everyone loves him. We’re gonna grieve today and be upset about it. It’s more about our feelings for Teddy and for him as a person and getting better than it is about anything else. Teddy’s a great kid and he’ll be back as soon as he possibly can, if it is real bad. But we’re going to keep fighting.”

Obviously, expectations were high this season for the Vikings and this injury is a major setback in a playoff push and/or defending their NFC North title.

Get well soon Teddy.
