The Tennessee Titans Part Ways with Coach Mike Mularkey

Not only did the Tennessee Titans make it to the playoffs, but they advanced to the second round after beating the Kansas City Chiefs by one point in the Wild Card round.

Their season ended with the New England Patriots knocking them out of the playoffs.

All things considered, their season was a success and exceeded expectations that most people had about them going into the year. Unfortunately, that success will not be repeated under the coaching of Mike Mularkey because the franchise and him have mutually decided to part ways.

According to sources at ESPN, the two sides could not agree on the plan for the future and pulled out of negotiations for an extension.

Mularkey helped guide the Titans to a 9-7 record this season and ended the organization’s 8-year drought in the playoffs, even giving them a win in the postseason for the first time since 2003. You know, when they had Steve McNair and Eddie George on the squad and were 12-4 under Jeff Fisher. That year, they too, got eliminated from the playoffs by the Pats.

With Marcus Mariota and a few young pieces on the team, the job is appealing and could find a big name calling the shots in no time.
