The return of the Baby Bulls. . . .
You may remember over the weekend, when reports surfaced that Phil Jackson was planning a trade for Carmelo Anthony to the Los Angeles Clippers or Boston Celtics. Well, Danny Ainge has other plans of his own, as he’s looking to steal a major player off the market in the next few days.
As the NBA trade deadline approaches, the Chicago Bulls are looking to get rid of Rajon Rondo and other pieces not named Dwayne Wade. However, some eye-raising reports have surfaced today Ainge could be looking to acquire Jimmy Butler from Chicago, with the possibility of packaging their 2017 lottery draft pick from the Brooklyn Nets in exchange. With Jimmy approaching the prime-year age of 28, he’s questioning the Chicago front office and if they’ll surround him with proper talent.
Many rival executives are believing a trade could be in the works next month, as Ainge has ignored any talk surrounding Anthony and the Zen-Master. The Bulls reportedly have concerns whether Butler can lead them to a championship and feel he’s not a great clubhouse leader – following last week’s outburst against the team following last week’s outburst against the team.
The Celtics tandem of Brad Stevens, Isaiah Thomas and Al Horford have led their team to second in eastern conference standings, but still feel there’s a missing piece from being a legit contender to LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers. Look for discussions to quickly pick up if the Ainge is willing to get rid of those picks he has stored away from this summer and next.
