Dwight wants out, now!

After making a tip to the Western Conference Finals last year, prematurely firing their former coach Kevin McHale, James Harden showing up to camp overweight a few months ago, and a below .500 record of 27-28 at the break – Dwight Howard feels his time as a Rocket is coming to an end.

While the 30-year-old center is yet to exercise his $23.3 million extension in the final season of his four-year deal, Houston feels Dwight is planning to bypass the option and pursue free agency.

With the trade deadline approaching this February 18th, Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports has learned that the Rockets are aggressively pursuing options, which his agent Dan Fegan and team GM Daryl Morey both on the same page to quickly execute a major deal. Whether or not this happens remains to be seen, as Howard is seeking a maximum contract extension this summer.

The Toronto Raptors, Boston Celtics and New York Knicks are some of the teams rumored to be interested, but we’ll find out if there’s any takers for an injury-prone aging veteran next week.
