It’s almost time for the HBO special The Defiant Ones and we’re excited to learn more about the life of Dr. Dre. In another teaser for the upcoming documentary, Dre shares the first time he met and spoke to Snoop Dogg. Apparently, he knew him from around the way because of his hustling activities and eventually heard his rap talents thanks to Warren G. When he called him about it, Snoop hung up on him because he didn’t believe it was actually Dre.
The good doctor called back and told him to hit the studio with them the next week. The rest is history. Dre started thinking about a solo album (see: The Chronic) and the two made classics.
The four part documentary directed by Allen Hughes will air on HBO on July 9 at 9pm.
