After releasing his ninth album The Midnight Life in October, DJ Quik was the latest artist to sit down with Ali Shaheed Muhammed and Frannie Kelley of NPR. The Los Angeles artist talked about his first hip-hop record being The Sugarhill Gang’s “Rapper’s Delight,” working with the likes of Talib Kweli, Jay Z, Rakim and Dr. Dre, the mentality of coming from Compton and much more.
