DJ Premier surprised the world with new Gang Starr music last month, and now, he’s back with a video for the song — “Family & Loyalty.” Directed by the legendary Fab 5 Freddy, the new visual stars the featured J. Cole alongside Premier and Guru’s son, Keith Casim, and uses archival footage of Guru himself.
“Everything is very emotional and raw, because he’s not here, but his spirit is here,” Premo says. Continuing, he said, “We have so much unused footage [of Gang Starr] together, and with Guru’s lyrics I visualized him in the video as a picture book, a photo album that would capture our journey.”
