Joe Budden Breaks Silence on Why He Left Complex’s ‘Everyday Struggle’

“I’m too honest and I gotta be strapped at all times”

Last week, news surfaced that Joe Budden took a leave of absence for the birth of his new child. In that time, the morning hip-hop debate show had guest host fill in for the time being. However, it was confirmed Monday morning that he was not coming back. Beforehand, the show created by Zach Frydenlund, with Nadeska and DJ Akademiks, changed the landscape for hip-hop media this year.

By influencing ESPN to change its entire morning format, the show quickly become a top destination for urban pop conversation. Today, Ordinary Joe releases the long-awaited next episode of his podcast, where he goes in-depth on his exit from Complex and Everyday Struggle.

The New Jersey native cited failed negotiations for his departure and went into detail on why his contract wasn’t renewed. Surprisingly, he was in good spirits and expected this unfortunate situation to happen months ago; revealing that multiple networks have already reached out to him this week.
