Lil Wayne Wins Settlement with Birdman, Officially Leaves Ca$h Money

CV coming later this year!

After six years, Lil Wayne is officially free to release his long-awaited album, Tha Carter V. Since 2012, the Wayne has been in a legal battle with Birdman; regarding financial records that involved Drake, Nicki Minaj and many producers. Today, reports have surfaced that Weezy scored a huge legal battle against Baby, which a large check was paid directly from Universal Records.

Under the agreement, Wayne is also free from his deal with Ca$h Money Records and will be looking to release CV at a later point in the year. Universal allegedly wrote the hefty check to Tuenchi, because they felt so confident in future profits from Drizzy and Nicki heading forward.

Surprisingly, the news didn’t mention anything about publishing rights or Young Money, which could be why this deal was delayed. While we’re unsure if the music relationship is over, the two have been seen spotted around Miami numerous times together; which leads us to believe time will repair this wound. Look for Wayne to make a formal announcement in the coming days.

UPDATE: Weezy F’s lawyer Ron Sweeney confirms the news and released this statement:

“Per our settlement agreement, the matter has been amicably resolved to the satisfaction of all parties. In terms of the particulars, we’re prohibited legally from saying anything further. I can say that my client is happy. He is his own man, a man that owns his assets, his music and himself. At some point, Wayne will let his fans know what’s going to happen next.”
