Remember when SoundCloud launched it’s paid service? Well, it’s safe to say that flopped and the company continues hemorrhaging money after plenty of investments. There have been whispers the company has been wanting to sell and now there might be a new surprising savior.

According to the Financial Times, Spotify is in talks to buy the streaming platform in a move which could potentially set them up nice once they go public through an IPO.

The acquiring of Soundcloud would give Spotify more catalog (over 125 million songs) and effectively extinct a competitors off the rip. Besides that, it doesn’t look to be such an earth shattering move for the music streaming giant.

But SC would certainly come out a winner. They would sell for approximately $700 million, recouping some of the investor money they have ran through, they could wipe their hands clean of the fails and ride off into the sunset. Considering Spotify is worth around $8.5 billion to date, their pockets may not take such a big hit, but it could definitely make them come out more as bandits by the time that IPO hits.

It’s your move now, Apple Music. Just buy TIDAL and monopolize the game. You know, before Pandora, iHeartRadio, and Amazon get into the game and cut a piece of the pie.
