Kareem ‘Biggs’ Burke on Why Jay-Z Didn’t Diss Nas Over “The Bridge Is Over”

Blame the homie Irv!

With original Roc-a-Fella members reflecting on the 20th anniversary of Reasonable Doubt, Kareem Burke spoke to VladTV on a big moment for his label’s history. During 2001, at the peak of the Jay-Z and Nas rap war, Biggs touched on how he wanted Jigga to record a verse on “The Bridge is Over.”

Soon after, on a brainstorming drive home from the infamous Baseline Studios with Hip-Hop, Kareem came up with the plan for his guy to rap over the classic beat from B.D.P.

However, Irv Gotti pushed for Jay to green-light “Super Ugly,” and it was too late for Burke after the song went to Hot 97. After you watch the clip above, let us know in the comments if a different roll-out from Jay would’ve changed the outcome of his battle with Escobar.
