This past Friday, ESPN’s Get Up! show had NBA Commissioner Adam Silver on the show and the panel did not hesitate throwing him some questions we all want to know about the league moving forward.
Silver was asked about the problem with tanking, as more and more teams this season deliberately put out horrendous starting five’s on the floor towards the last stretch. This only made their chances of losing increase and their hopes for a top pick in the NBA Draft within their sites.
It’s no surprise, considering guys like Luka Doncic, Marvin Bagley III and Deandre Ayton are coming out this class. So is Michael Porter Jr., Trae Young, Jaren Jackson Jr., Wendell Carter, Mikal Bridges and more are in the draft as well.
The commissioner said that rules will make it harder for teams to acquire the top pick, with odds decreasing starting next season. He also mentioned other methods leagues do (see: relegation) and how those in the Premier League get to keep a higher amounts of the TV money for winning. Could these types of changes come to the NBA soon?
He also spoke on gambling and why it should be legal.
