Derrick Rose Says New York Fans are Embracing Him More Than Chicago

D-Rose is loving his time in the big apple this fall

One of the most awkward fallouts in the history of the NBA between a player and a franchise, has been Derrick Rose and his former team, the Chicago Bulls. Over the summer, the former no. 1 overall pick was traded to the Knicks on a deal between Phil Jackson and the team he helped win six championships during the Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen era.

Following his introduction to New York, D-Rose has said he’s felt more beloved in Gotham than he has over the last 8 years in Chicago. In an interview on the NBA Players’ Association website, Derrick went to say, “I was feeling a lot of love. You feel that a little bit in Chicago, but it’s not on that level of New York, so it kind of makes you anxious to actually get on the court. It’s, like, ‘Man, they’re excited that I’m actually there.’ I haven’t even picked up a ball yet, I haven’t made a basket yet, and I can only imagine how they’re going to act when we start winning.”

As Rose still battles with his current civil lawsuit with woman alleging that he and two of his friends gang raped her in 2013, which he’s said his innocence numerous times, he has a legitimate shot at helping Carmelo Anthony lead to the Knicks to a potential deep playoff run next spring.
