Isaiah Thomas Gets Standing Ovation in Cavs Debut

Welcome to The Land!

After watching him practice in drills and take part in practice the past few weeks, Isaiah Thomas finally made his debut for the Cleveland Cavaliers tonight after sitting out the offseason and the first half of the year with a hip injury.

How did his new city welcome him on his first game? A standing ovation, of course.

IT has been through a lot in the past year and we’re sure the moment was special to him. Although he didn’t want to leave Boston, he now has a chance to make a run with LeBron James and go straight at the Golden State Warriors in the NBA Finals, but first they must gel and get the team in peak condition for the playoffs.

Here are the first points that Thomas scored in a Cavs jersey.

UPDATE: Here’s what Thomas had to say about the game afterwards.

“It was a special night for me. I haven’t played in seven months, so to be able to be out there and compete against another team was special. Obviously to get the win was even bigger but just to be able to compete and be out there in a game setting, it was a great feeling for myself.

It was a special moment. I haven’t played in a game, and you would think I was here for a few years and playing and battling in Finals with this team, but it was special for my family to be here, my wife and kids to see that, that’s genuine love right there and I appreciate them patiently waiting and giving me the love they did tonight.”
