James Worthy Explains How Showtime Lakers Would Expose Steph Curry

“Who going to stop that sky hook?”

Last summer, before blowing their three-to-one series lead to the Cleveland Cavaliers in the NBA, Klay Thompson of the Golden State Warriors raised some eyes – jokingly saying that his team was better than the Showtime Los Angeles Lakers of the ‘80s.

While this didn’t sit well with the public, Magic Johnson went to praise the current collective of Dub Nation, but said they would never beat the Purple and Gold. Earlier today, in a conversation with Cari Champion o ESPN’s Sports Center, James Worthy was special guest for the morning edition and went to briefly touch on the current state of the NBA.

He soon praised that LeBron James, Russell Westbrook and few others would be able to hang with his legendary team in their prime years but moved attention to the Warriors. Regarding Golden State, Worthy cited how Magic Johnson alone on the offensive end alone would expose Curry in the back-court and wear him down on defense.

He didn’t say that Steph wouldn’t have his way with scoring, but said Pat Riley’s strategies in a series would make him work hard at guarding the greatest point guard ever.

Hit the 5-minute mark for Worthy speaking on LeBron, Westbrook and Curry.
