Lonzo Ball Says He’s Better Than Markelle Fultz

When it comes to outlandish Ball statements, it’s usually Lavar who is the one saying them in the media. Now, his son Lonzo may be going out of pocket with his comparison to Markelle Fultz.

In a talk with ESPN 710 LA, the UCLA product said he was a better player than Fultz, because of his ability to lead a team better.

“Markelle’s a great player, but I feel I’m better than him. I think I can lead a team better than him. Obviously he’s a great scorer — he’s a great player, so I’m not taking that away from him.”

Obviously, Ball led his team to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament, whereas Fultz didn’t even make the Round of 64 with Washington, but scouts have Markelle pegged as the first pick in the upcoming NBA Draft. He’s actually been regarded as the top selection for a minute.

During the year, the Bruins beat the Huskies twice, both times by pretty big margins.

Stats wise, Ball averaged 14.6 points, 6.0 rebounds and 7.6 assists per game, while Fultz averaged 23.2 points, 5.7 rebounds and 5.9 assists. He also averaged 1.6 steals and 1.3 blocks per game, giving him the better advantage defensively, compared to Lonzo’s 1.8 steals and .8 blocks.

Either way, Ball is probably trying to detract attention from his father and the fact that he got dominated by De’Aaron Fox as Kentucky eliminated UCLA out of the tournament.
