The Los Angeles Lakers Introduce Luke Walton as Head Coach

LUUUUUUUUUUUKE

The wait is over. After helping take the Golden State Warriors as far as they could possibly go in an NBA season (unfortunately he couldn’t lock down another ring), Luke Walton has left his post as assistant coach under Steve Kerr and gone down south to Los Angeles to assume his position as head coach of the Lakers.

Today, the team introduced him as the official leader of the young lottery squad and he is excited for what the Lake Show has in store for the foreseeable future.

With $60 million dollars in cap space available, a good young core to build on and a high draft pick on deck, Walton is walking into a favorable situation. He says the Lakers job is his “dream job” and is absolutely thrilled to come in and put in work for this post-Kobe Bryant era rebuild. It’ll be interesting to see what the Lakers do in the off-season and how they handle free-agency.

For now, D’Angelo Russell doesn’t look to be in danger of being traded. Brandon Ingram is looking like he’ll be the No. 2 pick in Thursday’s draft and with max money being thrown around to certain superstars, it might be a year or two until a playoff run.
