There were so many goddamn moves this NBA offseason that some just went under the radar. Russell Westbrook getting shipped to Houston to play with James Harden and the Rockets was not one of them. The news came as a bombshell, especially considering that Paul George got traded right before that too and sent to Los Angeles to play with Kawhi Leonard.
Today, the Rockets organization introduced Russ as part of the team and not only was he calm and answering questions from the media, he was cracking jokes too.
Aside from that, he talked about the mixture of his and The Beard’s styles on the court, his friendship with him and how much they’re going to sacrifice next season and Westbrook emphasized that he can play off the ball and impact the game without having to touch the ball.
He also thanked Oklahoma City and the fans, organization and everyone he left behind because he grew up there and is grateful for what they did for him.
