RIP to the triangle offense in NYC
Just days after the regular season ended, Phil Jackson publicly blasted Carmelo Anthony, with some unflattering remarks – blaming him for their constant woes. Well, with questionable influences in coaching on his part (see: the triangle offense), and free agents reluctant to sit down for conversations in past years; the New York Knicks have finally done a great off-season move.
This morning, early reports surfaced that Knickerbockers are set to part ways with Phil Jackson this afternoon; who’s only seen the team win a combined 80 wins in three seasons. Ironically, the team just had picked up the final two years of his outrageous fire-year contract; which was strictly and only about the money on his end. Carmelo was obviously frustrated with the direction of the team; but remained the most professional person in this entire ordeal.
He stayed off social media, didn’t speak bad about the legendary coach in public media and said his focus was only helping the team get better. Kristaps Porzingis, also had his own problems with Jackson, skipping exit meetings a few weeks ago with the team.
New York, who had been actively shopping the all-star to teams, may be able to convince him to say – if they hire the right team president and new head coach.
Along with drafting international point guard, Frank Ntilikina, the team has a chance to build upon him and other pieces if they want to stay. But, this is the best transaction their fans could hope for this off-season, as the KnicksTape now looks to move past this phase.

Conversations between Jackson and Knicks owner James Dolan accelerated this week when the Knicks decided they would NOT buy out Carmelo

Phil had obviously made it known he thought it was time for the organization to move on from Carmelo, but with no way of doing that….

And no plans to lead the organization beyond the remaining two years on his contract, Jackson and Dolan had to decide how to proceed

BTW, the Knicks GM Steve Mills will guide the team through free agency

As for KP situation, I'm told Phil was definitely miffed he skipped exit interviews but had plans to discuss in person later this summer
