Game 1 of the NBA Finals is going down in infamy thanks to that last second mental mistake by JR Smith. The man could be blamed for losing the game for the Cleveland Cavaliers, although that wasn’t the only thing that went wrong with the team in the closing seconds of regulation.
We’ve all seen the “meme” of LeBron James reacting to JR’s blunder in the seconds following the play, but now there is a full video of what happened afterwards.
As you can see from the clip, Smith is sitting on the bench emotionless, with a few of his teammates trying to cheer him up. James is clearly pissed off, but there’s a part of the video that was never talked about.
When Coach Lue approached the bench as overtime was about to start, LBJ asked him if they had any timeouts left. Lue confirmed they did and you can clearly see LeBron even more frustrated than before. It almost looked like he was going to shed tears for a second. His soul died at that very moment.
The Cavs went on to lose in overtime to the Golden State Warriors and now trail 2-0 in the series, with Game 3 going to back to Cleveland on Wednesday.
