WWE is Now Filming In-Ring Virtual Reality Content

This would’ve been so big during the attitude era!

Over the summer, Samsung unveiled its new GEAR VR mobile headset would be releasing to stores this Black Friday at a price of only $99.99, which will feature an exclusive Netflix app specifically designed for the device. Now with VR gaining buzz, Vince McMahon is making sure WWE isn’t behind in the potential next big thing for technology, with announcing their transition to the virtual world.

With more apps like Twitch to hit the virtual reality headset before the end of the year, WWE is currently doing a test run for Samsung Electronics, to give fans a front-row experience of the up-close action. The McMahon-owned wrestling giant worked with Reel FX Creative Studios and filmed their first VR segments during SummerSlam 2015 at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center.

WWE’s inaugural virtual reality 360-degree highlights feature the showdown between John Cena and Seth Rollins, as well as the Finn Bálor and Kevin Owens at NXT’s TakeOver event the night before.

While it’s unclear if World Wrestling Entertainment is looking to record more VR content this year, depending on its success this holiday season at retail – the McMahon’s are fully ready for the next experience in entertainment and technology.
