The first confirmed NX details emerge!

While Nintendo is yet to go public, official details have surfaced on what the upcoming next-gen NX console really is. According to leaked reports, NX is indeed high-end handheld console, that features a build-in screen, with the ability to plug into a TV-docking station (HDMI).

The device also features two detachable controllers and is slightly less powerful than both original PlayStation 4 and Xbox One systems, which are set to see upgrades next year. In an interesting note, the controllers can be detached as two smaller controllers for use in local multiplayer.

Much like the 3DS, the NX will use some type of cartridges though the power of Nvidia’s Tegra mobile processor for initial launch early next year, but is rumored to feature an upgrade to the Tegra X2 processor. This means that it’s possible the device could increase its power over time.

At the moment, Nintendo’s pitch for their 2017 roll-out is “take your games with you on the go,” as consumers will be able to move more freely without having to use a bulky machine.

After Nintendo declined to make any e3 appearance, the NX is reportedly set to be unveiled this September at the Tokyo Game Show Expo, where pricing and a release date will be announced.
