PlayStation Vue & Sling TV have more competition

Cord cutters, affordable network TV and cable channels could be coming soon to Hulu. According to the Wall Street Journal, the streaming company has already got The Walt Disney Company and The Fox Entertainment Group on board, with implementing their channels to the service – as they look to partner with NBC Universal (owner of Hulu) and CBS before it goes live in early 2017.

With Sony’s PlayStation Vue and Dish Network’s Sling TV currently battling it out as the two premiere destinations for online TV streaming, the new Hulu base service is expected cost $40-per-month. As traditional cable and satellite companies still remain reluctant in reducing its prices, the addition of cloud-based DVR recordings could see a spike in consumer engagement.

If you’re wondering where the Apple TV service is at, the company hasn’t been able to properly license affordable programming from media companies that would keep prices attractive. At this rate, we wouldn’t expect Apple to step in the streaming arena until next year at the earliest.

Look for more details regarding Hulu’s packages to surface later this year.
