For what seems like weeks now, the talk around the NBA has been the turmoil in Minnesota with Jimmy Butler. Reports have been flying about the tension between the All-Star and the young core. The fact he wants out and even which teams he wants to go to (and which are inquiring on him).
It was already said that Butler wouldn’t report to media day for the Timberwolves today, but one of his soon-to-be former teammates was.
Mr. $190M dollar bag, Karl-Anthony Towns, spoke on his side of the Jimmy talk, except he didn’t say much. As far as his relationship with him, KAT mentioned the fact they had an understanding of winning and always did since the jump. He also said that he only likes to focus on what he can control and said he’s been working hard to be mentally prepared and physically ready for the grind of an NBA season.
He also said that contract was not an overnight decision, but it was weird timing.
Regardless of Jimmy being on the team or not, he wants to be better for himself and the squad and will have to pick up the slack left behind from the absence of Butler. At the end of the day, he’s playing to make Flip Saunders proud and loves the city of Minnesota, on and off the court.
