LeBron James Approves of Young Lakers Summer League Team

Yeah, “it’s just NBA Summer League,” but there have been plenty of reasons to watch this year. From the slight lottery pick disappointments and rookie surprises, we all need to temper our expectations until the season starts.

Recently inked Lakers All-Star LeBron James stopped by Las Vegas earlier today to check out the prospects on his new team and he was loving what he saw.

Josh Hart has been touted as an early front runner for MVP of the Summer League and he showed it again today. He dropped 18 points alongside Svi Mykhailiuk, who had 19 points of his own for the undefeated Lakers. The squad currently holds the No. 1 seed in the tournament and now heads to the semifinals for a second straight season (last season, they won the championship) after their 101-78 win over the Detroit Pistons. Interestingly, they will face James’ former team in the Cleveland Cavaliers next round.

With the King sitting courtside, he got to see first hand why the young core has some pieces in hand that could contribute next season off the bench.

Can this year’s Lakers team make the playoffs and if so, what seed?
